Making the film
As news of a caravan of migrants walking through southern Mexico to the USA consumed the global media, Director Timothy Wolfer flew to southern Mexico to share the stories of those taking on the journey. Initially intending to film short clips and broadcast vlogs, on the very first day of filming he ran into a group of transgender women banded together for safety. Despite having only met along the route, the girls had already developed a strong sense of solidarity. They were determined to giggle and have fun despite the dangerous situation they were in. Timothy realized he had a unique and important story which deserved the camera's full focus. He asked if he could join them the next day, and he did day after day; traveling with them past Mexico City and Tijuana to a desolated border post where each woman took it in turn to request asylum and enter the USA.
